What a proper installation includes
- Mounting the indoor unit level on a wall plate, with a sloped hole for the pipes.
- Copper refrigerant pipes, insulated, between the indoor and outdoor units.
- An outdoor stand or wall brackets that carry the unit's weight safely.
- A drain pipe with a steady fall, so water does not drip indoors.
- Power cable, and a breaker sized for the AC.
- Vacuuming the pipes before releasing the gas, to remove air and moisture.
- A test run: checking cooling, drainage and current draw.
What changes the cost
| Factor | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Pipe length | Runs longer than the standard length need extra copper pipe and may need extra gas |
| Outdoor unit position | Upper floors and difficult walls need more labour and safety work |
| Stand or brackets | Floor stands, wall brackets and rooftop frames differ in cost |
| Wall type | Concrete and stone take longer to drill than brick |
| Wiring | A new dedicated circuit or breaker adds cost |
| Existing points | Replacing an old unit can reuse a hole and route if they suit the new model |
Copper pipe matters
Use copper refrigerant pipe of the size the manufacturer specifies for your model, properly insulated. Thin or wrongly sized pipe and poor flare joints are a common cause of gas leaks and weak cooling later.
How to avoid surprise charges
- Ask for one total price covering the unit, installation, pipe, stand and delivery before you pay.
- Ask how much pipe is included and the rate for extra length.
- Make sure the installer vacuums the system; skipping it saves time and costs you later.
- Keep the receipt and warranty card together.
Frequently asked questions
Is installation included in the AC price?
Not in our listed unit prices. Installation is quoted separately because pipe length, mounting and wall type change the work. We give one total price before you order.
How long does split AC installation take?
A standard wall split usually takes a few hours. Long pipe runs, high floors or new wiring take longer.
Can I reuse old AC pipes for a new AC?
Sometimes, if the pipe size suits the new model and the pipes are clean and undamaged. R32 and R410A units need pipes rated for their pressures. Your installer should check before reusing them.
